Silva leads RRD Pamaskong Handog boxing tourney winners

Julius Silva of Quezon Boulevard outpointed Ruel Utal of Marilog in the 43-kilogram division to lead winners in the 2007 Pamaskong Handog ni Mayor Rodrigo Duterte Amateur Boxing Tournament held over the weekend at the City Hall Drive.
Joining Silva as winners in the one-day tournament were Junmar Moralde of Buhangin who defeated Arnel Agustin of Nograles High in the 44-kilogram division, Glen Ramos of Quirino bested Alejandro Mencera of Toril, Engelbert Moralde of Buhangin over Junmar Lacheca of S.I.R. Matina in the 45-kilogram class, Ruben Lanas of Nograles High over Edwin Binito of Marilog, Rick Benosa of Nograles High over Frederic dela Cruz of MATS in the 48-kilogram division.
Ranjie Gudilosao of Nograles High over Lyndon Dandoy of UM, Edwin Moralde Jr. of MATS over Randy Petalcoren of Marilog in the 50-kilogram division, Eric Alesna of Beefit-Quirino over Melbert Labisoris of Marilog in the 53-kilogram division, Rey Inot of Quezon Boulevard over Ricahrd Masupat of Jacinto in the 55-kilogram class, Rico Laput of the Air Force over Ronald Dagaan of University of Mindanao-Igacos, Dionsio Lunzon of the Army over Jason Gura of Ateneo in the 57-kilogram division, Jeffrey Nuñez of UM over Leconhill Legaspi of MATS, Argie Laput of Holiday Spa over Orlemer Celeste of Boulevard in the 60-kilogram division, Isaac Tuling of Almendras-Boulevard over Almar Killy Udiong of I-Flex in the 75-kilogram division.
The bouts were presented by Mayor Rodrigo Duterte with the support of City Sports Coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go and Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines-Davao Chapter President and City Councilor Edgar "Kap" Ibuyan.

Bangoyan scores TKO win over Pader

Philippine Boxing Federation Junior featherweight champion Balweg Bangoyan of Jose Abad Santos scored a fifth round technical knockout, Sunday night, against Jun Pader of Sorsogon in Mangagoy.

The 19-year-old Balweg hurt his right hand in the second round, suffered a headbutt wound in the fourth but recovered just in time in the fifth round to stop Pader.

Balweg, who won the crown on NOvember 14 against Elper Paganpan in a 10-round promotion by Manny Pacquiao at the Mall of Asia, improved to 10 wins, eight by knockouts and two by unanimous decision.

Jose Abad Santos Mayor Alexander Wangkay said his fighter after a full rest will resume training under the watchful eyes of veteran trainer Vicente "Teng" Adriano.
